CONGRATULATIONS to our own Ironman - Dan Rigby.
Yes indeed,
Dan R., mild mannered Benefits executive, has conquered the St. Croix Ironman... swimming the frigid sea at Christiansted Harbor in a very respectable 41:20 (1.2 mile swim),* tackling the hill they call the Beast in a 56 mile bike ride (3:26:04) and running the 13.1 mile course (2:46: 55). That's right: 6 hours 54 minutes and 19 seconds later, Dan emerged victorious! (I get tired just thinking about it.)
In his age group of 45-49 Dan ranked 52 out of 68 finishers... 8 more in that age group never finished the run, and another 5 only did the swim.
*In the CEO Challenge group of 16 men and women execs, mostly in their 30s and 40s, only 4 beat Dan's swim time!
